One of the hardest things to do when you’re a full-time commercial photographer is to engage hobby mode when you have a camera in your hand. For some, it’s the fact that you are generally lugging around large and heavy kit, the kind of camera kit that is designed and built to facilitate your business operation. Although when I’m on jobs sometimes I can morph into a happy snapper I’m more often than not totally focussed on my clients’ needs and usually working to a brief.
Sometimes I have to disconnect a little from the business side of things so I decided that a different camera system would help me do that and after a lot of painstaking research, I settled on the Fuji X100F. This beautiful little fixed lens camera is perfect for me for lots of reasons but mainly because it allows me to just breath and relax whilst taking pictures of scenes and details that interest me.
I try to take this camera with me now wherever I go so that if I have a moment to break away from business I can. These images are from one such day in Hull city center.
